We all hear the usual when people want to know about their Sun Sign. The Taurus is a stubborn foodie, the Libra is the moody diplomat, and Geminis are the flirty nerds of the bunch. However, that's just surface jargon. The real meaning of your Sun sign goes much deeper than who you are, it's the function of the zodiac and the higher purpose it serves in order to get humanity where it needs to go.

There are twelve Sun signs: Aries, Taurus. Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius and Pisces. There are 3 Air signs, 3 Earth signs, 3 Fire signs and 3 Water signs and they can be Fixed, Cardinal or Mutable. The Fixed signs are Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius (they are known for their determination and persistence). The Cardinal signs are Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn (they are known for their insightful and ambitious outlook), and lastly, the Mutable signs are Sagittarius, Pisces, Gemini and Virgo (they are known for their freedom of expression and flexible natures).

Now that we have the basics covered, here is my take on what our Sun signs truly say about who we really are and what we're meant to do. Look for yours so you can see what it really means to be YOU.

1. Aries, the Sun (Fire, Cardinal) comes in to burn the chaff away. Whatever is weak or no longer useful gets carted away in order to make room for

2. Taurus, the Pillar (Earth, Fixed) to come in and stabilize and tend to what's left so it can take root.

3. Gemini, the Messenger (Air, Mutable), comes in to send seeds among the masses and generate "messages" elsewhere.

4. Cancer, the Nurturer (Water, Cardinal) takes those "seeds/messages" and nurtures them into a state of being, then

5. Leo, the Dignifier (Fire, Cardinal) gives the "seeds/messages" the courage to be seen, felt and heard.

6. Virgo, the Analyst ( Earth, Mutable) makes sure the "seeds/messages" are thriving, healthy and as good as they can be, making sure that it's for the good of all who hear, feel or consume it, while

7. Libra, the Calibrator (Air, Cardinal) is there to make sure the "seeds/messages" are just right. Balance is very important.

8. Scorpio, the Transformer (Water, Fixed) comes in to transform and bring light to the "seeds/ messages" since there may be some who might ignore the deeper meaning. Look beyond the surface and gain true enlightenment. The truth breaks through to the surface.

9. Sagittarius, the Traveler (Fire, Mutable) comes in to bring thoughtfulness and action as the philosopher of the group. Think thoroughly about the "messages" and then move or act accordingly.

10. Capricorn, the Gardener (Earth, Cardinal) comes in to bring a strong work ethic in order to achieve the goal of harvesting those "seeds/messages" that have now grown into a viable concept, then

11. Aquarius, the Humanitarian (Air, Fixed) comes in to prepare the land for the new seeding of dreams and messages, by bringing provisions and new ideas, making way for

12. Pisces, the Dreamer (Water, Mutable) to begin to dream the stuff fantasies and creativity are made of. There is an ocean of untapped consciousness here and we get to go fishing for what we dream and desire. Be careful of what you dream up though, you may end up with fool’s gold.

Which Sun sign are you? Is the way it is described above reflective of how you really are? Next time someone asks you: "Hey, what's your sign?" You can choose to give a cliché answer or you can give them the one that really describes you to a "T."
